Ready for the main lychee season

Recently (May 30), 100 tons of early-ripening lychee of Bac Giang province were transported to retail systems nationwide, opening this year's lychee consumption season of this province. On the same day, nearly 500 tons of early ripening litchi of Tan Yen district were signed by businesses to sell right at the conference to promote consumption of lychee products in 2023 of Bac Giang province.

Director of Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade Tran Quang Tan said: This year, Bac Giang maintains more than 29,000 hectares of litchi, with an output of about 180,000 tons. Therefore, proactively connecting supply and demand is a way for lychee to go far and farmers to have stable income.

Since the end of April 2023, the province has promoted consumption and signed nearly 40 contracts and memorandums of understanding for lychee consumption, with an output of more than 110,000 tons. Tan Yen and Luc Ngan districts also organized promotion delegations in Yunnan and Guangxi of China. Up to now, there have been over 200 Chinese traders registered to enter Vietnam to come to Bac Giang to participate in monitoring the raw material area, signing contracts for the purchase and consumption of lychee. The early ripening lychee harvest time will last for about 20 days. The main season litchi tea will be harvested from June 10.

Particularly for lychee, in the year 2023, Bac Giang is expected to export about 96,000 tons of lychee, accounting for about 53% of output and up 15.2% compared to the year 2022. The main export market of Bac Giang lychee. , including: China, EU, USA, Australia, Japan, Korea, some Southeast Asian countries, some countries in the Middle East...

At this time, facilities for preliminarily processing, packing, producing auxiliary goods, trading and providing services for lychee season in some districts of Bac Giang, especially Luc Ngan district, are stepping up their activities. Another good news for the country's lychee basket is that Bac Giang has just been granted 12 more area codes for lychee cultivation for export to Australia and Thailand. Besides, the province now has 110 codes for exporting lychee to the Chinese market, 37 codes for exporting to Japan and 15 codes for exporting to the US.

In Hai Duong province, from the end of April 2023, a conference on trade promotion of Thanh Ha lychee products was held. According to statistics of the Department of Industry and Trade of Hai Duong province, currently, Thanh Ha district has 3,265 hectares of lychee, the output is about 40,000 tons (early lychee 25,000 tons, main lychee 15,000 tons).

The entire fabric area is guided to produce according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, of which about 4,000 - 5,000 tons are eligible to meet export standards. It is expected that in mid-June 2023, Thanh Ha will harvest all three varieties of lychee, namely U Hong, Chinese hybrid and main season lychee.
