With durian, in the first quarter of this year, this fruit also brought in over 250 million USD, an increase of 66% over the same period in 2023. Good signals from exports have pushed durian purchasing prices to a high level, Sometimes it exceeds 200,000 VND/kg.

The crop is about to begin in May, so prices are falling, but many people believe that durian prices will increase sharply in the last months of the year, due to many favorable factors.

Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association commented: "2024 will be more favorable than 2023 due to increased output, expanded planting area, and nearly double the number of growing areas compared to 2023, which is 700. Second, the Ministry of Agriculture is negotiating to ask for permission to export frozen durian, if possible this year or the first half of this year, which is good news for the durian industry."

Experts say that prices of agricultural products will continue to remain high because demand on the world market is large, while global supply declines.

Along with the rising prices of many agricultural products, exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products are experiencing very positive growth momentum. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the first 3 months of this year, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was estimated at over 13.5 billion USD, up nearly 22% over the same period last year; trade surplus of 3.36 billion USD.
