Vietnamese Thieu lychee crop is starting. According to information from Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade, there are still no Chinese traders to buy litchi, but tens of thousands of tons of litchi have been quickly consumed.
Total lychee harvest quantity in Bac Giang province this year is estimated at 160 thousand tons, of which 38.2 thousand tons is harvested in the early season, main and late season 119.4 thousand tons, the harvest time is from May 20 to July 10, 2020. In Hai Duong, since June 2, lychee in Thanh Ha district has started to harvest gradually, the average price is from 28,000-30,000 VND / kg. Currently, traders mainly in the district come to buy and sell in markets of Hanoi, Hai Phong and Hai Duong.
Hai Duong thieu litchi is grown widely in Thanh Xa, Thanh Thuy, Thanh Son and Thanh Khe communes. This year, the lychee production of Thanh Ha district is estimated at nearly 15,000 tons, spreading the harvest to early July because of uneven ripening.
This year is the first year that Vietnam's fresh lychee will be exported to Japan. After 5 years of negotiation, at the end of 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture - Forestry - Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) agreed to import Vietnamese fresh lychee into this market, starting from the 2020 litchi crop. On 3rd June, Japanese experts already arrived in Vietnam to directly inspect and supervise the quarantine of lots of lychee exported to Japan. The successful entry of Vietnamese fresh litchi into the Japanese market will help open new export doors to other developed countries.
